Self Improvement: 3 Techniques to Control Your Anger

There are a vast amount of techniques that people can employ to help control their anger issues. Many people in today's world find that they just cannot control their anger and it just seems to brew inside of them until they do something that they may regret later. For people like this it is extremely important that they learn skills and techniques that help them cope with this problem.

Adults and children alike are affected by anger issues, so it is necessary that the coping mechanisms work well with both children and adults. If you are someone; or know someone who has daily anger issues, it is imperative that you learn a couple techniques that will help you cope with anger:

1) Keeping a journal. When an upset person freely writes about things that are bothering them a weight is lifted off of their chest. Their negative thoughts and emotions are pointed somewhere, and not at a certain individual. This just helps the person vent and get the feeling of anger out in the open, where they won't stir and cause more anger. When a person reads through their journal they may also be able to see what is angering them. They might see a theme and try to avoid it.

2) Stay away from things that make you angry. It's really quite simple, if something makes you mad you should try to avoid it. If you realize that every time you put yourself in a situation that you lose your temper...Why not just avoid the situation? Sometimes it seems to me that people with anger issues put themselves into situations where they know that they are not going to come out happy. If you really want to stop your patterns of anger you should learn to just back down from certain situations that you have no control over.

3) Learn to discuss you anger and to talk out a resolution. If you are can be patient when someone makes you angry you should wait until a later time and try to talk out your feelings with that person. Try to learn and understand where that person is coming from and a lot of time you will realize that it was just a misunderstanding. A good open talk will usually solve the problems that you are having with a person.

If you find yourself constantly angry and upset it can really interfere with your lifestyle. If it is getting in the way of everything that you want to do, it's probably time to do something about it! You should find out what works for you and stick with it.

Self Improvement: Improving Your Memory through Constant Learning

Keeping our brains active can help improve memory performance. While the old tried and tested method of repetition is still an important part of memory techniques, we also need a bit of novelty to keep our minds awake and to stimulate our brains.

We all have times when we'd love to be able to improve memory - for school tests, college exams, business presentations or even just in our day to day lives. Pregnant women are particularly prone to memory loss, and often seek ways to improve memory. Age is also a consideration; as we get older, our ability to remember things slows down and we find ourselves misplacing things or forgetting appointments.

By learning new information, we can help improve memory in the long-term. The part of our brain that produces the chemical dopamine responds better to fresh images, ideas and experiences, and can improve memory retention more effectively that simply repeating the same information over and over again. To improve memory techniques, there are plenty of things we can do in our day to day lives:

Improve memory - with word games.

By simply doing the crossword or word game in your daily or Sunday newspaper, you'll help improve memory by learning new words or phrases. Each day will bring a new challenge so you will be stimulating your brain regularly.

Improve memory - with number challenges.

Sudoku is a popular number game, but there are many other number puzzles you can try to help your quest to improve memory. Again, you will be keeping your brain active and opening up your mind to new challenges on a regular basis.

Improve memory - learn a language.

Exposing your brain to anything new will help improve memory function, but learning a language can be a particularly rewarding experience. You don't need to go as far as taking classes, simply watch some of the foreign language learning programs on TV or learn a few words of Spanish or French, for example, each day.

Improve memory - play an instrument.

This is another fun way to get round the problem of increasing memory loss. Picking up a guitar or sitting for an hour or two at a keyboard could be a great way to improve memory performance. You'll be stimulating your brain function by practising new chords or melodies!

Of course, many of us lead very busy lives and don't always have the time to take up a new hobby or pastime. We can still improve memory techniques in our day to day lives, simply by paying attention to the things around us. Instead of walking or driving home in a daze, we can help improve our memory just by looking around!

Self Improvement: Workplace motivation

Leading a motivated team is not only more productive, you will find it much more enjoyable and rewarding too. Poorly motivated employees rarely function well as a team, and typically generate more stress for you than they do results. So good leaders consider the impact of their actions on workplace motivation carefully.

Some people tend to take a job that they do not particularly want, just for the money. When people do this, they can be resentful at the workplace. Another issue is that maybe the pay doesn't seem worthy when compared to the work responsibilities.

Regardless of whether a business is product based or service based, there are quotas to meet in order for the business to be successful. In a typical organizational structure, one or more managers are appointed over specific departments to ensure they are meeting the objectives set before them. Getting a group of people to all share and work toward a particular goal can be a delicate matter, since each individual has their own personality, characteristics and work style.

Too often, workplaces are sources of useless or nonexistent feedback. At one extreme, you may have a boss who demands a lot but offers no praise or commentary for a job well done. At the other end, you may have a boss who always says everything is wonderful and makes no distinction between quality work and drivel. Neither extreme is going to be effective workplace motivation.

Well first let me share another quick story with you... A few days ago a friend commented that her husband had come home from work happier than she had seen him in ages. It turns out that something exceptional had happened.

It is essential that you and any co-workers understand exactly what you are working towards. Make sure that you have a very clear idea and vision for your business goal, and make it very specific. This needs to be made clear to every person working on the project. Without this understanding it will be difficult to achieve it.

Well, self-confidence is a vital aspect of life and success, more so in the workplace. Indeed, it can be said that faith in oneself-in one s actions, beliefs and abilities-is the very key to office survival. Possessing the right dose of self--confidence can not only propels you to great heights, it allows you to make the most of life s opportunities, face challenges and perform well when you need to.

Survey after survey in recent times has indicated that money is certainly not one of the prime motivators for employees. Perhaps, they are true to an extent at the entry level, but soon they realize that money alone can't make life interesting or meaningful. They can buy a lot of things, but not self esteem or peer recognition. These days, for a few dollars more, no one is going to change jobs

These behaviors include people saying one thing and meaning another, giving lip service, gossiping and backstabbing. Enlist a company-wide commitment to stop every one of these workplace dysfunctions that lead to conflicts and lower employee productivity.

Self Improvement: How to Have a Positive Mental Attitude

Having a positive attitude is one of the most effective ways of improving your approach to life and appearance. Here we discuss this in more detail.

It is very beneficial to be around positive people as they tend to radiate an attractive energy. We automatically want to be a part of that energy, and are instinctively drawn to it. Having a positive approach also raises your energy levels, which in turn makes you feel and look younger.

Maintaining a negative approach can be bad for your health. Happy people tend to have higher levels of antibodies which help to fight off infection more easily. Also, in general, optimistic people live quite a few years longer than pessimists.

One of the first things that people notice when they first meet you is your smile, and this is what they will base their first impressions on. Laughter and smiling help to exercise your facial muscles and also tones them.

Even if you wake up feeling down, try not to indulge the mood. Putting on your favourite outfit will straight away lift your mood. If you appear well turned out, you can deal with your mood, because you know that you will look good to everyone else. Use these 'feel good' emotions to turn off the negative ones.

It is really not surprising that most people worry about their imperfections,as we are constantly hammered with media images of slim, young, beautiful people. Try not to worry too much about what other people think of you. As long as you feel good about yourself, that positivity will always shine through. Remember that beauty is all about confidence. Try to take control of how you look and you will automatically feel more confident.

Self Improvement: Self Hypnosis Techniques - A Valuable Tool To Achieve Self Confidence

You can calm your body and make stress easier to bear by using Self Hypnosis Techniques. In most cases you can learn how to execute self hypnosis all by yourself. This can be a valuable method to use when your children cause stress, your job becomes overwhelming, or your spouse is causing discord in the family.

Meditation and self hypnosis are somewhat alike in technique. You must relax the body and because of that the hormones that cause stress to set in lessen while the mind becomes obsessed with something other than the problem. Affirmations are what make self hypnosis different that meditation. Affirmations are positive declarations that can make what ever is troubling you better. These declarations will impart a feeling of well being and the ability to defeat any problems in your life.

The first step in applying self hypnosis techniques is to decide what affirmation statements you will be focusing on during your session. You can have just one affirmation statement or several. They need to be something you can remember easily and recite during the self hypnosis session so be careful to center on just a few at first until you get used to doing it and can retain more.

The next thing that must be done is to decide where your will perform self hypnosis; a place that is cozy and you will not be bothered by others. You must relax your body next and an easy way is to make a part of the body tense for a moment then relax it. Raise a leg and clench the muscles to make it tense up then relax and allow the leg to become loose. Continue with the hip, the muscles of the stomach, the feet and so on. Keep going until your whole body is loose and comfortable. As you relax each body part recite what you are doing like I am relaxing my arm. Affirm that you are relaxing each body part as you do it. Now add in some of your memorized affirmations concerning the problem you are having. Mix those memorized affirmations with the statements you are making about relaxing.

Continue to do this for about 15 or 20 minutes. If you go a little longer it will not hurt but remember that this is a relaxation technique and try not to fall asleep. It is a good idea to set an alarm or a timer for 20 minutes to be sure they will not fall sound asleep.

There are companies that provide affirmations for you. They are produced on CD's or they can be downloaded as an MP3. Turn them on after you get into bed at night right before it is time for sleep. You can find recordings that have to do with just about any subject including stress. Download can easily be found online for purchase.

When you execute self hypnosis you outline objectives and achievements prior to going into a relaxed state then affirm them while in that state. The suggestions go past the consciousness into the subconscious mind where they will take on an aspect of reality. Suppose you wish to loose weight, so affirmations may include I crave nourishing foods or I wish to eat foods that are healthy for me. Keep everything positive. After a few times you might notice that instead of eating the left over cake you reach for an apple instead. It might amaze even you.

Self Hypnosis techniques give you the ability to handle anger or stress. They make it easy to attain goals or to work out issues or it can improve self confidence. The best thing is that it you do not have to pay for it. Self hypnosis can give you the upper hand in improving your life.

Self Improvement: How to Build Working Relationships

Good working relationships lay at the heart of any successful life. All social interactions rely on communication. It is through communication that we develop trust and integrity between individuals. Development of relationships therefore rely on developing a sense of mutual trust between two individuals. The best way to do this is to create a rapport. Before you expect others to listen to you it is important that they feel comfortable and relaxed in your presence. This should be the case with all people in all situations from friends to the local shop assistant.

Why? Because being a good communicator should be a way of life not a tap that you just switch off and on at a given moment. Being an effective communicator requires consistency in your habits and behaviours. It is hard to make something natural if you are not doing it all the time. Be a good communicator as much as possible and eventually it will become part of your habits.

In our working relationships being able to communicate well is essential for creating the all important first impression. You may not realise this, but the judgements we form of someone in the first 10-15 seconds of meeting them are the most important in terms of the attitude they take to us. If you want to make a good impression in business then getting respected in the first 10-15 seconds is crucial for success,.

It is important to distinguish between mutual respect and liking someone. It is not always necessary to like the person you are talking to in order to develop a good line of communication. In business it is more important to be mutually respectful with one another rather than trying to be one another's best friend. In fact trying to be like a friend could actually prove counter productive.. It can make you appear to be disingenuous rather than honest and open.

So where do we begin if we want to heighten our communication skills. Well first of all lets think about what makes a good conversation. A good conversation should be a two way process between two individuals who have made a connection with one another. The way to tell whether this connection has been established or not, is when you experience a sense of trust and respect with another person. This process is initiative it should feel right ' that is the way to tell.

Think of the signals you make towards someone you feel comfortable with. Your body language is likely to be honest and open. You are likely to make eye contact. Your tone of voice will probably be calm and relaxed. Contrast this with the way you are with someone you feel less comfortable around. Once you have identified the behaviours you exhibit when you are comfortable around someone think about how you can include these in all your dealings with people.

The way we interact with others comes through a variety of influences. Among these are ' the places and people you spend your time with. The way you look ' and just as importantly - the way you feel that you look. Your own self esteem plays a major part in the interactions you make with others. It is no coincidence that the people most at ease in conversation are those people who have the confidence and belief in themselves.

Your value systems and beliefs inform much of your decision making so it is no surprise to hear that they are also critical in your interactions with people. If you are naturally suspicious of other people then do not be surprised to find that you too are seen as untrustworthy. Why? Because you are going to be more likely to act in a way that discourages others to trust you. So therefore an open mind ot others is important in sending the right signals of trust and honesty.

Experts on relationship building all agree on one thing. It is possible to become an expert communicator by learning how to adapt your body language signals according to the individual you are communicating with. We call this following body language cues. Simple things like breathing in unison and adopting a similar body stance and posture are massive in reassuring the other person on the subconscious level.

Similarly with verbal communication, adopt a similar tone of voice and rhythm to your speech. Remember though that this should be a subtle incorporation rather than an impersonation

Self Improvement: What Is Self Esteem And How To Tackle Self Esteem Issues

Self esteem is defined as how a person perceives one's self. These days quite a number of people suffer from self esteem issues, which can exacerbate into more serious health problems like anxiety attacks and depression. These issues are often caused by an overwhelming sense of negativity that people cannot seem to shake off no matter how hard they try. This article will endeavour to explain the underlying issues that have an impact on self esteem, and how one may overcome these problems easily.

It is not uncommon for people to suffer from self esteem related issues every now and then. It only becomes a problem when the issues drag on and worsen over time, and the person ends up developing mental health issues. Low self esteem problems usually begin when your perspective about yourself and the world around you changes and goes on a negative spiral. This can happen when you receive negative criticism about yourself, or blamed for something that you believe you were not a part of. This can also happen if something traumatic had occurred in your formative years that triggers a sense of self loathing.

But the thing you should know is that being adversely affected by the negative things that people might say will do you no good at all. As an adult, you should have the ability to filter out the good from the bad, so whenever someone gives you a negative feedback or criticism you have the choice of either taking it to heart or shrugging it off. If you truly believe that the other person is trying to give you some sensible advice, then consider their words carefully, introspect, and then move on. Do not linger on negative notions and allow them to affect your sense of self worth.

In order to build up a solid, unshakable self esteem, you need to take several things into consideration. The first thing you should always do is be constantly aware of what is being said to you. Do not always take what others say as a put down. Not all criticisms are negative, and if you know who your true friends are, you will know that the criticism is meant to make you a better person.

The second thing you need to do is to always think that the problem does not always necessarily lie with you, but with the critic. Most people tend to make negative comments to make themselves feel good. These people feed off of the negativity that they breed in others, they are prideful to a fault and will always try to make themselves feel better by making someone feel worse off. You need to identify these types of people, and stay away from them if possible.

If staying away from these negative people is not possible, then you should consider this last tip: Be assertive. You need to show them that they do not have any power over you, and that they cannot feed off of your negativity. You can counteract their negative comments with these simple words: "I am sorry you feel that way." This is a way of showing that you will not allow their comments to affect you negatively.

Ultimately, the most important thing is to love yourself. Love yourself, and you will find that you would have built up an impenetrable suit of armour comprising of solid self esteem.

Self Improvement: Hypnosis Techniques for Relaxation that you can do yourself

Do you find that you are suffering from a large amount of stress in your daily life? Is anxiety too frequent during your day? Do you ever wish that there was a way for you to relax and it wasn't going to eat up a huge amount of time or completely empty out your wallet?

If yes is the answer to any of these questions then you owe it to yourself to learn the ways of self hypnosis relaxation techniques.

Now let's discover the best ways to learn about self hypnosis relaxation techniques.

The very first thing that you need to do is make sure that you can set aside a block of time that you will be undisturbed. You should have at least thirty minutes of free time but if you can set aside an hour's worth of time that would be even better. After you have your time set aside you then need to find a great place to relax. This place should be nice and clean, you could maybe light a few candles of your favorite scent. Make sure that the room is at a comfortable temperature. You can choose to sit down or even lay down during this process whichever makes you most comfortable. It is incredibly important that you do not cross your legs during the hypnosis relaxation process.

Now sit or lie down and close your eyes. You should then take several slow, deep and soothing breaths; you should be taking in air from the nose and release the air through your mouth. Think in your mind the word relax every time you take in and release air.

Another method to implement is to picture yourself at the bottom of a set of stairs that has a doorway at the top. With every step you take as you ascend up the stairs you should start to begin to feel like a bigger and bigger sense of relaxation. This can be hard to get the hang of at first but as you practice you will be getting better and better. As soon as you have reached the top of the stairway then you can open the door.

As the door opens you should be looking at a place that is utter a total relaxation. It could be a gorgeous castle, a beautiful well maintained garden with bright sunny weather. You should decide on the most relaxing destination that you can think of as you want to make sure that you choose the most charming and relaxing place that you can think of.

As soon as you have chosen the most relaxing place that you picture you will want to fill your senses with everything around you. You should enjoy all of the colors and sounds and just immerse yourself in the entire world that you have created in your self relaxation hypnosis. Are there beautiful flowers to smell? Can you run through some crystal clear waters and run your hand over sea shells and neat looking rocks. You want your imagination make your relaxation destination as real as you possibly can to get the best relaxation effects.

Next in the self relaxation hypnosis process is that you should take your time and enjoy every last aspect of the scene that has been created in your mind. Once you get to that 'Happy Place' if you will you want feel like you have spent enough time there to have fully relieved the stress of your day. You may not have a lot of time to do this everyday but you will see benefits no matter how long you are able to relax and how often you are able to use your self relaxation hypnosis.

Now there you go, you are able to equip yourself with all that you need to start removing some of the stress of your daily life. If you are suffering from really bad stress and anxiety then learning self relaxation hypnosis can be a way to manage your stress levels and assist in relaxing yourself during times of stress that may come along in your life.

Self Improvement: What is the Meaning of Conflict in Your Life?

The great thing about conflict in your life is that it makes you prioritize what is most important to you. It is great for putting things into perspective clearly and quickly.

When there is a lot of conflict in your life, it is often a time of intensive personal growth. You may be going through some tough times you have not experienced before.

This can be scary and frightening.

Keep in mind at the back of your head that it is all for the best and the silver lining will be clear to you soon enough. Sometimes we resist changing so we are put in situations where we are forced to change.

People who embrace change easily and readily welcome it appear to have less conflict in their lives, than those who avoid change. Or perhaps those who welcome change are not as bothered by conflict than those who are?

Either way conflict can be traumatic if you allow it to be. See if you can find the lesson inside the trauma and then move on as best you can. This doesn't mean that you brush aside your feelings.

Take all the time you need to get your emotions out but do not dwell in a negative state. You will know if you are living in a negative state if you mostly feel down.

The more happiness you feel the more you are leaving whatever conflict you have gone through behind.
The only constant in life is change. Nothing ever stays the same. Even if it appears to stay the same you are continuously choosing a similar experience.

Personal growth is necessary and conflict helps us achieve that. The next time conflict arises in your life welcome it as best you can.

Self Improvement: How to Achieve Your Goals

How to Achieve Your Goals

Each person has goals, regardless of the size, which is why they strive to reach these, depending on their own capabilities and resources. If you truly want to become successful, you need to have the right attitude and mindset to achieve. There are several ways to do this and you may be surprised that you had everything you needed all along.

Importance of Visualization

The goal starts from within. You need to have full desire and passion over the things that you want to achieve. This way, you will constantly store the thoughts and ideas in your mind that will lead to success. If your desire is weak, the results and the paths to success will also be weak or delayed. The primary step is to create dreams. You may take a pen and paper and list down the items that you want to do.

Visualize yourself being successful in your objectives. The attitude of the mind is highly important to subconsciously control your actions towards the achievement of your set goals. You can keep pictures of things to help you visualize. Try surfing the internet and look for the right images that will put you on the right track. You may want to consult a professional to help you visualize if you have difficulty.

Creating Your List

Next, you need to create a list to achieve your goals. It is vital that you create the action steps that will ultimately lead to your main goal. For example, if your goal is to get rich, you have to set steps such as saving money, investing, working extra hours, building connections, etc.

It is always recommended to make your list more specifically, such as writing down "To earn 1 million dollars", instead of just "Being rich." You should also be specific about the action steps. You can write down "Save 10 dollars everyday", instead of just "Save more". You should also create a time line wherein you can finish tasks right on schedule. You will avoid the hindrances if you push yourself more by setting deadlines.

Think of Benefits or Consequences

Aside from writing down the list of your goals and action steps, you will also want to include the advantages and consequences once you reach them. For example, you can put "Buy a new Ferrari", "Managing my main office nemesis", etc. These specific advantages will motivate you more. You can also include the consequences should you fail or delay by writing down things like "Lose my house", "Disappoint my wife", etc.

The Right Attitude

You need to have the right attitude that will help you stick to your goals. The most important are consistency, patience and discipline. Consistency describes the work you put in to achieve the results you've always desired. Patience talks about waiting for the right opportunity and persevering despite some disappointments. Discipline means giving up some immediate gratifications so you can get bigger and long lasting benefits in the end.

You can practice the right attitude by talking to very successful people and finding a partner who can motivate you during times of trouble. It is important that you check your list every now and then and make the necessary adjustments over time. Changes may occur but you have to stay with the goal, even if the plan is flexible and altered.

Self Improvement: How to Love Yourself More

Take a few deep breaths and release the tension from your shoulders. Sit straight and close your eyes for a minute and just relax and breathe. Then, when you feel more relaxed, open your eyes and read the following to yourself slowly:

Today I can accept myself. I do not need to be perfect. I am loveable just as I am, even with my quirks and faults. I have many good qualities. I do my best. I care about others. I am equal to other people. No one is perfect. We each have different experiences in life and have been given different challenges and different opportunities. I will not compare myself to them, or them to me, because that would not be fair.

I value myself because I have value. Everyone has value. There have also been times when I've been there for others and times I have made others smile. I am loved. I also value my life because it gives me the opportunity to grow and experience, to learn, to love, to be loved, to laugh, to try things, to have triumphs and to make mistakes, to learn from those mistakes and to grow some more because I had them. I will go with the flow and enjoy life and its challenges.

I am at peace with myself. I will be loving and encouraging to me, like a caring and wise parent that wishes me to be healthy, successful, and happy. I wish these things for myself. I will nurture a stronger, more confident me. When I find I am being hard on myself, I will simply let it go. I will take a few deep breaths and remember love, and then I will begin again. I accept myself and will treat myself kindly.

After doing the above, read on further. We know that we should love our self, but sometimes we're not sure how to go about it. Here is a little checklist for you to get you started. Begin by checking to see if your immediate physical needs are met at this moment. Do you need healthy food? Are you tired? Do you need sleep? Part of loving yourself is seeing to your needs sensibly. Sometimes we get in a bad mood simply because we're over-tired or haven't eaten in a while or have made poor food choices. If you need sleep or a good meal, see to that first.

How are you feeling? Do you need to talk to someone? Then don't just sit there, call someone. Talk to them about anything, it doesn't have to be about important things. Do you need to shift your thoughts away from unhappy thoughts or self criticism? Then do that. Get involved in some work or a project, put on happy music, do something enjoyable, read something uplifting, find friends and tell them you need to have some fun, but find some way to shift your thoughts away from sadness. Make it a habit to say encouraging, kind words to yourself.

When your physical needs are met and you are feeling okay, then it's time to think long term if your needs are being met. Do you have enough income that you are financially stable? If not, then come up with a plan to change this, and work on it until you have some financial security. Save money to get you through emergencies, temporary unemployment, and for retirement. Always have some money that only you can get to.

What about your emotional needs? Are you in a loving relationship? Wonderful. Are you in a relationship that makes you unhappy? If you are in a relationship that isn't good for you, that makes you feel bad about yourself, or that makes you unhappy, you want to show yourself love by ending the relationship. Are you lonely? Then make friends or start dating.

What about your health? Do you show yourself love by taking care of your body? Often we diet for looks, but what is most loving is to take care of your health. Sometimes health and losing weight overlap, but sometimes people diet and do not help their health or even harm it. It is loving to see to your health through healthy eating, exercise, keeping a sensible weight, getting enough sleep, avoiding cigarettes and other health risks, and getting regular medical care.

After all of these things, there is still more! If you are taking care of your needs, both in this moment and in the future, that is wonderful! But you can also show love "just because." Much like a loving parent would do, speak nicely to yourself. Maybe do something nice for yourself now, "just because." You don't have to have a need to be loving to yourself.

Self Improvement: Detox Your Mind, Body, And Soul With Positive Affirmations

What are these social and emotional toxic elements that have seeped into us? A frightening percentage of the world's population are unaware of the fact that they walk around in this existence diseased, encumbered by toxins that leave their mind, their body and their soul in a state of spiritual decomposition. One look around at the world today and why would anyone be surprised at the endemic that is affecting the human race.

We are living in a world that is rife with bad news, bad events, potential wars, nuclear cold war, tense and hatred between countries, acts of terrorism and worse - and they are enforced to us every time we turn on the television and watch the news. This is a world that is laid on the foundation of attrition and tragedy, and there is very little we can do about it. We are breathing in an environment that is filled with deadly toxins, with a potential for global meltdown at the turn of every CFC laced spray can.

And just recently, we are experiencing the crash of the very economy that controls the lives of every consumer in the world today. The pillars of our existence are slowly crumbling down as days go by and the effect it has on the mind, body and soul is quite frightening. It is a three-pronged attack that is both debilitating and the worse thing is that, we are not even aware of it. It is this 'gloom; that is slowly seeping into our minds and casting a shadow on everything we think about, storms riding on our ambitions, our hopes, our dreams, our attitudes and the outlooks that we have in life.

It is this gloom that is behind every sense of depression, dread, hopelessness and the cause that magnifies our stresses and traumas in life. Something must be done and it must be done early. Spiritual and mental depressions are toxic things that can readily and just as easily affect the body. Depression can cause us to lose our appetites, lose our health and our will to live. Stress can be the cause of migraines, high blood pressure and in some worst cases - loss of vision and temporary mania. We need something positive on the horizon, a rainbow after the storm, a silver lining in the cloud to give us hope, to give us back our ecstasy in life and to give us joy in the world.

These are not products of television cliché's but very real solutions to a very real problem of these toxins in our mind, body and soul. Positive affirmations have been around for a very long time and they are just what you need to maintain light in your life and side step the tell tale signs of stress and depression. Never accept how the world looks, always view it through a prism of positive thinking and happiness and you will be amazed at the sights you will see and the things you will uncover in life.

Self Improvement: Become Free From Fear through Affirmations

Do fears and phobias interfere with your achieving what you want in your life? Did you know that there are powerful tools and techniques available (I know of 22 of them) for overcoming fear and living life free from fears and phobias? Affirmations are one of the powerful tools at your disposal. Let's talk about how you can use the power of Affirmations to live your life free from fear.

When it comes to dealing with our fears, affirmations are positive statements that we make with the intention of shifting our focus from fearful, worrisome issues and thoughts to more peaceful, joyful, and upbeat states. The goals of fear-reducing affirmations are simple. So is using them.

Hundreds of pre-written affirmations are available online. These work well enough, but you can also create your own that target your exact issues. Anyone can create their own affirmations. It simply requires a bit of explanation on how to create an effective one.

This technique does require some effort however. A willingness to repeat your affirmations enough time for them to have effect is a necessity. You can only alter your state of mind very gradually, so going from a generally fearful state to a generally positive one will take a while. You must be willing to repeat your affirmations as many times as it takes to get the results you're looking for. That said, the minimal amount of work this takes is surely a small price to pay for relief from your fear.

Let's say that you are afraid to give a speech. You could create an affirmation like, "I feel confident and comfortable about giving this speech." Repeat this to yourself enough times and you will start to feel more confident and comfortable. However, sometimes your subconscious mind will object and point out that your fear and discomfort still exist.

Fortunately, there are a few ways to counter this problem and achieve the mental state you want without battling your subconscious. Referring to a guide on affirmations will show you tricks to get around this kind of subconscious resistance to achieve the full results this approach can provide.

This is just one of the many techniques for curing fears and phobias I would like to share with you. If you would like to learn more about how to apply this technique as well as learn about 21 more tools that can help you cure fear permanently, please CLICK HERE.

Self Improvement: Desire, Growth and Balance in Life

Its a strange thing you know. All my life, I have striven to set myself up for a "sea-change". I love to surf and I've always admired those who can commit their life to surfing. Living on the beach and paddling out for waves is more important to them than anything else in their lives. So, trying to emulate them, I worked and made decisions and wheeled and dealed and I've finally made it.

Now I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland. One of Australia's best beach towns. I can hear the ocean from my window as I type this article. And as I type, I ask myself "why are you typing?". You see it is Thursday already and I have not been for a surf this week. Why did I come all this distance for, only to sit at home typing?

I know the answer, sometimes I just do not like to admit it to myself, but life is about balance. I need to do everything to bring the level of variety into my life that will keep me sane. Just as 15 hour days in the office would drive me mental, so would 15 hours in the surf everyday. Sure, I would become a damn good surfer, but the cost would be my love for the ocean and my sanity.

Humanity is about development. We all try to improve ourselves as individuals and also as a community. Intellectual development is part of that. Our intellect is as important a part of us as any other part of us and needs to be exercised as well. This is why I type, I am ensuring I do not get bored of mind because that has the power to permeate into the rest of our lives.

Tomorrow is another day. Tomorrow I will go for a surf. That will satisfy a hunger of a different kind.

Emotions are an important part of us too and should be exercised like our intellect. I find the best place to do this is in the development of relationships. My first child, a daughter, taught me so much about myself in this regard. As a parent, nothing is sacred. You need to be open to giving away everything, including ideas and opinions. It is in this selfless giving that I mature emotionally.

With all aspects of our lives, if we don't feed a part of it, we get hungry. Hunger expresses itself in different ways though. I think the hunger of emotional growth is the continual push, or search for an enforced boundary. The greater the hunger, the more extreme the search.

Then there is spiritual growth, most people ignore this completely and wonder why they are searching for "more meaning" in their life. This need for more meaning is the hunger for spiritual growth. It does not take much to satisfy this hunger. For me, surfing is part of this also, but so is yoga, volunteer work and a tiny bit of meditation.

Part of the human need is to learn as we go and get better as people, but we need to do this in a balanced manner. We all are complex beings with physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs. Neglecting any facet of ourselves leads to a hunger that needs to be satisfied. Recognizing and taking action on these hungers is one of the keys to long term happiness.

Damian Papworth, a new father, has found a new perspective on life and happiness. Recently he analysed baby high chairs. He found travel high chairs really helped his family live a full lifestyle.

Self Improvement: The Science Of The Mind

The science of the mind is something that we need to take interest in as a race of people who are always interested in the concept of making most of our lives. One thing that has been a belief in the world today, circulating in the minds of the top people in white coats, is that the next step of evolution is self determination. This means that we are in the position of improving ourselves. We need to realise this and not look at the whole Darwinian process as something that is beyond our control.

One thing that you need to understand is that the mind is like the deepest ocean in the world. It is so deep, that there is no equipment in the world today that has the power to actually delve into the depths of the ocean and make the discoveries that we need to. It has been years and years since the industry has been trying to make some progress on taking charge and control of the mind. So what we need to do is to actually allow ourselves to be open to the idea that the next step in the evolutionary ladder is a rung that we not only have to grab onto ourselves, but understand that it is a rung that we have to build ourselves.

Once we can realise this about ourselves then and only then can we really improve ourselves in the sense of the world. Many people have realised that we have been limited in every sense of the word. We are going around the world with no more realisations that we are not performing to a standard that is really important and something that we can be proud of. The mind is a mess of muscles, and how can we know how it really works is to delve into it and make sure that we have the right tools to actually manoeuvre around it. The science of the mind is something that we all need to take interest in and it is an undeniable fact. Just look at the personal development industry and the sorts of things that are being developed there.

One thing is actually the brainwave entrainment industry, and it is something that has been exciting the world today with its power to actually induce the power of the mind and amplify it to levels that we only dreamed of earlier. Once we can take advantage of this, then and only then will we be able to improve ourselves as an entity on this worldly plane of existence. What this and other technology like subliminal and bio feedback and the dream machine is trying to do is to look into the internal processes of the mind and make sure that we are able to capitalise on the power of the mind on its own terms. Thus, you need to look into this and do as much research as you can and who knows, you might be a better person in a few weeks.

Self Improvement: Manifesting a creative life in ten ways

Imagine manifesting a totally creative life. There are people who do have this capacity and we have only to look at their homes as an illustration of the extent of their creativity.
Some homes are wildly unique, yet the owners happily and comfortably reside therein. How about a home in the shape of a top hat? Or one with a butterfly motif inside and out? Would you like a home that floats on water, or an ancient fortress with walls 15 feet thick? What about an underground home with voluminous lighting received through skylights dug into the ground?
Perhaps this is not your idea of living a creative life; however, you can live your own life- creation by simply intending to do so. Creativity means seeing things from fresh perspectives with imagination and an open mind. Our every thought, every act, every word is a creative manifestation.
Below are 10 ways to begin the creative process so you can easily manifest a creative life:
1) Ask yourself every morning, 'In how many ways can I be creative today?' Change the way you have habitually done something for years; brush your teeth with the opposite hand.
2) Choose to see things with 'new eyes' ' all day. Take a different route to work; buy a new kind of fruit for a snack; speak with someone you have never met.
3) Be willing to let your old paradigms go ' the past is dust. Pay attention to your new thoughts and feelings. Allow them to grow and expand.
4) Begin a creativity journal. Jot down areas where you are inspired to be creative. List specific action steps. Get in the habit of thinking and feeling outside the box. It is not what you see; it is how you see it.
5) Schedule a 'Creativity Hour' or 'Creativity Day' with your family, friends or colleagues. Choose a subject upon which all agree. Begin by brainstorming or 'heartstorming'. Make an action list.
6) Walk for the first 15 minutes that you are involved in a creative exercise in order to charge all sections of the brain: left brain, right brain, midbrain, and hindbrain. If inside, walk slowly around a table, a chair or up and down the hall. Carry a notepad. Movement diminishes distracting energy that interferes with the creative process.
7) Have an inner discussion with an inanimate object or something of Mother Nature. Speak with a tree in the park, a butterfly resting in the sun, a soft breeze, a soaring seagull, a honey bee bathing in nectar, a waterfall fearlessly dropping hundreds of feet. Ask questions, share how you are feeling, listen for answers. Have fun.
8) Take three deep relaxing 'gratitude breaths' before driving your car in the morning, making a telephone call, paying your bills, beginning a new project, going to sleep at night.
9) Fine tune your senses to develop oneness. Engage someone much younger than you ' or older. Pay attention to what they say; listen with their ears, see with their eyes; understand with their wisdom.
10) Awaken creativity within all of your relationships. Show your affection, love and gratitude: send a card or information; buy a gift; make a phone call; plan a meeting. There are hundreds of ways to express your feelings.
Remember that each individual in your life is totally unique and has something unique to offer to the world; therefore, must be valued and allowed to express the goodness that comes from his or her heart and soul.
Allow your soul to inspire your creative spirit. Stay in alignment with whatever is for the highest good of all. Utilize your soul-power to bring heaven to earth. Bring your higher energies into manifestation: your life purpose, your goals, your aspirations, all that is good and beautiful.
Believe yourself to be a creative person. Access your creativity to live a more enchanting and fulfilling life - the life of your dreams. You can manifest all that is needed to fulfill your soul's purpose and to live a wonderfully creative life.

Self Improvement: Beating Holiday Stress

Stress during the holidays can be quite common. Although stress can be quite common almost any day, the holidays can bring it into a sometimes higher level. What will all the parties, the preparations, the emotions that go with the holidays- they sometimes can make an otherwise enjoyable time quite stressful enough. Here are some ways that will help you beat the holiday stress.
Prepare In Advance
One of the reasons that people find the holidays stressful is because of the usual rush that comes with it. People usually wait until the actual holidays in order to buy gifts, plan their vacation getaways, prepare parties or make their schedules. Doing all these without giving yourself ample time can be very stressful indeed. One way to avoid it is to prepare and plan early. Make sure that you have all things listed and decided on a couple of months before the holidays. The earlier you do them, the better.
Delegate Work
Stress also comes during the holidays because there is just too much work to do. Having to prepare a party at the office or at home takes quite a lot of work. It would be quite helpful if you have other people to share the responsibilities with. Don't try to take on the challenge all by yourself. Try to delegate the work required to co-workers or family members able to take on the different responsibilities. Not only will it help you avoid stress, the team effort that everyone puts into the preparations makes it all worthwhile.
Avoid Piling Holiday Debt
Even the holidays can bring on some long term stress. It may be easy for you to pile on debt during the holidays since there might be many things to buy for the party or gifts for loved ones. Using that credit card can easily make you pile up on stress later on as you look into your credit statement. To avoid this type of stress, try to avoid piling up on holiday credit. You can prepare ahead of time and plan your holiday expenses and try saving up for it instead of using plastic. This would be the best way for you to avoid the stress of holiday debt.
